TED MTU PRO-RC Offers

Measures the energy consumption, demand voltage, current, and power factor. It is designed for three-phase systems in small-to-medium size commercial, institutional and industrial environments. It is designed for three-phase services with a maximum voltage of 600V, and is suitable for 2000A or 5000A Rogowski Coils. It has two options for data-communication between MTU and ECC: PLC or Ethernet.

The MTU is generally located at the main electrical panel and transmits the information collected over the building's existing electrical wiring, using state-of-the-art Power Line Carrier communications (PLC) to an ECC which receives and interprets the data. Multiple MTUs can be used to give individual measurement of panels or loads. For systems with solar, wind or other alternative generation, TED will provide the user consumption, generation and net usage.

  • 'MTU' stands for "Measuring Transmitting Unit"
  • An installed MTU (in a residence) will typically have 2 CTs (current transformers) - more CTs in three-phase systems
  • A TED system requires at least one MTU to operate
  • Accurate to within +/- 1%
  • It samples energy-data at a rate of 8,000 times per second, takes the average, and transmits that data each second to the ECC (Energy Control Center)
  • It will post one measurement every one second - which is the combined measurement of the 2 CTs (generally connected to the main circuits)
  • If there is a Spyder connected to the MTU, the Spyder measurements will post as independent data
  • Data posted includes voltage, power factor, kW
