EML 2020-H Home Energy Monitor






The EML 2020-H builds on the success of the EML 2020 portable power and energy use meter. Where the EML 2020 is used for short-term monitoring of either 120V single phase or 240V loads, the EML 2020-H monitors total energy consumption throughout your home.
The EML 2020-H attaches at your electrical panel service entrance and measures the total energy used by all the circuits in your home. Using the free RTLS2020 Windows reporting software and USB cable, you can broadcast energy use data to your PC - in real time! The EML 2020-H is the first product on the market to offer this capability.
The product is available in three versions
Current sensors are purchased separately. There are three types to choose.
Each of these current sensors is available with plug-in connectors or hard-wired connectors to match the right type of EML2020-H. Be sure to order the right type!

- A 'hard-wired' version that uses Zigbee wireless communications to send data to the PC without needing a USB cable.

The Good:
The displays are arranged in an intuitive, easy to follow manner. Setup was easy, and calibration checked out well within specifications.
The Bad:
Initially, one of the current transformers was not reading properly. It was found that the plug connector needed more force than expected to seat it properly into its socket. Certainly not a problem, but something to be aware of.
The Bottom Line:
My EML2020-H is being used to conduct energy audits on homes. So far, it has been performing well within my expectations.

Easy to mount and wire. Software is also easy to download and install. Basic screens with very good data format. Pick-ups very sensitive. Product to be used with PV system this spring.
The Bad:
Software has many features that are good except the file exporting. Each new time period creates a repeat of the previous scan - huge file size. Manufacturer working on a fix. Need a fast processor to keep software running.

Good package at a low price with flexible software.
